I really, really hate South Park. I’ve never liked it, never could get into it (though I tried), and I suppose I never will.
Did the creators really win a Peabody award? I commend them for their social commentary, but if they could do it more cleverly - or rather, with less swearing & potty jokes as The Simpsons, or even mix it up more like Family Guy, then maybe I’d respect them more. But as is, I am usually grossed out and/or disappointed by their vulgarity and general lack of any kind of respect. And I really just don’t find it funny.
I shudder to think of the many watchers who no doubt take their insinuations at face value and make it their own. Sure everyone does it - myself included. I’ll admit that much of the news that I get comes via The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report. But I maintain that the shows that influence me are far better. Of course, I admit my bias :).
No, the only thing I give the South Park guys props for is the shoutout they gave to BSG at the Peabodys. Other than that, you don’t have my appreciation or viewership South Park. I know you don’t need it, but I’m saying it anyways. :P
